Our PM can help Burma
Democratically elected MPs from Burma (1999 elections) plead with Kevin Rudd to have a heart. The Burmese generals are more receptive to their near neighbours who do most business with them, including India, China and Thailand. Tin Tut, Daniel Aung and Maung Maung Aye reckon Rudd can present the case for reform to key ASEAN nations. www.australiaburmanetwork.org

Eastern Burma
As International Aid is delivered to the Irrawaddy Delta, fresh reports of the Burmese Army continuing campaign against ethnic minorities have been released. As the village of Mu Li Khi was burned new refugees were created. News services are also reporting cyclone refugees are being kicked out of aid camps and told to go back to the sites of utter devastation to start rebuilding.

Aung San Suu Kyi
The recent referendum on the constitution has resulted in no change to the juntas stranglehold of the people of Burma. The politically motivated detention of the rightful elected representative was extended this week. Despite there being no legal basis for doing so and the new constitution reportedly excluding her from taking office. 18 years ago the people voted overwhelmingly for the National League for Democracy.

About half of those affected have been reached by aid agencies, yet the crisis in Burma is slipping from the headlines. Ben Rogers reports from the Cutting Edge Burma Desk that the intervention has far from succeeded. "But then the moment passed and the world moved on.
