As International Aid is delivered to the Irrawaddy Delta, fresh reports of the Burmese Army continuing campaign against ethnic minorities have been released. As the village of Mu Li Khi was burned new refugees were created. News services are also reporting cyclone refugees are being kicked out of aid camps and told to go back to the sites of utter devastation to start rebuilding.

The international community is experiencing the shocking disregard for human lives displayed by the ruling military junta. The terrible consequences of blocking aid to communities and churches devastated by a natural disaster and the mounting threat to lives posed by disease in the aftermath may well constitute a crime against humanity according to CSW UK. The number of agencies willing to contribute to the well being of the citizens of Myanmar is long. Relief agencies are well practiced in assisting local communities reestablish their lives after utter devastation such as the Boxing Day Tsunami.

CSW UK reports on a recent fact finding mission to Burma. The brutality of Burma’s ruling military regime, known as the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC), was brought to the attention of the world in September 2007, when the regime launched a severe crack down against tens of thousands of Buddhist monks and civilians who had participated in peaceful protests. The demonstrations were an expression of many years of deep-seated frustration among Burmese people at the regime’s tyrannical rule, including the suppression of democracy and basic human rights and the gross mismanagement of Burma’s economy.
